this one’s pretty polarizing, so i feel like i should have a strong opinion, but i honestly don’t. i found it mid. i will say, though, that i really appreciate the endometriosis representation. i knew the mc had endo the moment she started talking about her pain, because it sounded exactly like my pain. the only time i’ve heard others with endo talk about their pain is on reddit so it was very surreal to read something so relatable. there’s something cathartic about reading someone describe the exact pain you’re currently feeling. 6.5/10

not for those with a weak stomach. i honestly got sick multiple times reading this. it’s based on the true story of a refugee from sudan, so every tragic event hits so much harder knowing it actually happened. sometimes he feels like god hates him because of all the tragedy that befalls him, and while i relate to that a lot, as an outsider you can see how almost lucky he is in a way. like yes having someone right next to you be eaten by a lion would be very traumatic, but it’s actually quite lucky that you weren’t the one eaten. yeah walking over corpses would be bad but at least ur walkin and not one of the corpses. definitely made me grateful for the mundane things i take for granted. 7/10
